You may be thinking “What does going green have to do with beauty?” right? Sometimes, especially during my morning jogs, I marvel at God’s beautiful creation that we often times take for granted.

Many people think that “going green” requires a lot of effort and that its a problem that’s over their heads. Its really the little things that count and if we all made a small effort,it would eventually have a major impact on the environment and on human life.

Besides the actual environment, society plays a big role in sustainable development.I love the saying “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle”.What you give back to society doesn’t have to be tangible for you to touch a life.

I previously worked as a Sunday school teacher for 4years at a local church and many of the kids came just for that one meal.I did this for so many years and for a long time,i had no clue how much of an impact I had made on some of those kids.Moral of the story,a simple kind gesture is the beginning of the healing process.

Give love, show love, teach love.Whether its to the people around you or to your environment. Its initiatives such as Miss Earth South Africa that help to shed some light on these issues and empowering young women to make a difference any way they can.

With that said, here are some green tips:

1) Choose a laptop over a desktop,it consumes 5times less energy.

2) Lower your geysers heating temperatures.

3) Buy fresh foods instead of frozen ones.Frozen foods use 10 times more energy to produce.

4) Only fill the kettle with as much water as you need.

5) Choose a shower instead of a bath.An average bath uses about 160 litres of water,where as a a 5minute shower only uses 60litres.

6)Repair leaks and dripping taps!

7) Change your driving habits. You can save a lot of money and fuel by avoiding harsh braking and accelerating.

8) Try to make a conscious effort to separate and recycle glass, plastic, paper and biodegradable products in your home and at work.

9) Try to choose glass packaged products over plastic ones as they can b e recycled more willingly than  plastic or cans.

*GREEN KISSES* (^^,)
