So I spent this weekend working as an usher at the Metro FM music awards.What an amazing experience! Getting to watch everything live,and helping celebs to their seats.It was so eye opening.I can honestly say i appreciate South African music even more.

Meet the icons of the industry on 02 March 2013.Boot-camp  training starts at 10am sharp and ends 4pm then its rehearsal at 4 until 5.Show starts at 6pm at the 5star venue. Docklands Hotel (as seen on tv). This hotel is situated at the newly developed Point waterfront area,award winning chefs will create a 5 course buffet for our model soldiers.

After training,models will be modelling at a full production fashion show wearing their own styled ensembles, for a live audience of whom they can invite to watch them strut their stuff on the catwalk.

Leave the 2nd bootcamp with on ramp fashion show experience,a model manual, certificate of achievement and a model survival box! ROGER THAT.

I spoke about tribal prints in my previous post and I’m rocking my favourite print here-The AZTEC print.You can dress it up or down.I chose to dress it up a little with a black sheer top that has some lace detail and my wedge sneaker.I could’ve gone with a plain white tank top and a nice pair of sandals to dress it down.Love this print though!

Brown skin,bright lips…

 

Who says brown skin ladies cant have bright lips?I love red lipstick and it works for me.I added a darker shade on the eyes to give it that glam feel…looking like a modern+ sexy  RED RIDING HOOD.

FASHION AND ART…what’s the connection?

 

Fashion and art to me is the coming together of two wonderful concepts.In recent times we’ve seen how the industries have collided. Its hard to think fashion without thinking art.You just cant separate the two! I love how young people of this generation aren’t afraid to express themselves through fashion(art).They tend to shy away from the norms of society.A sort of ‘hippy’ influence.(THE VINTAGE GANG)

Fashion designers and artists are coming together and creating beautiful unique pieces! Tribal prints have also become a big part of the industry lately.Inspiration is EVERYWHERE!

This is an AZTEC print.The AZTEC people are a group from Central Mexico.This print is 1 of the many popular prints.1 of my favourites too.

Below,is NDEBELE art.This culture originates in South Africa, and this is how they would paint their homes.Now there’s a place for it in fashion.Who would’ve known?!Its such a GLOBAL industry!

Adding another pair to my collection.A girl can never have enough shades! This frame never gets old.Not yet anyway.I love this brown colour too.Luckily for some of us,we can wear shades in summer as well as winter.The joys of living in Durban,South Africa!  < 3

When I feel like making a statement.Sexy but classy at the same time.Floral prints are in so embrace them!**

WHAT’S HOT AND WHAT’S NOT

I’m going to mention 3 of the hottest things this summer and then things that we shouldn’t be seeing in 2013.!

1) PASTELS (HOT!!!)

These soft colours are so inviting and make a statement.You can mix and match them almost anyway you want.You can dress them up and dress them down.In my opinion they compliment any tailored piece of clothing extremely well.

COLOUR BLOCKING (NOT)

Colour blocking came in 2011/ 2012 and stayed in 2012! Loud colours are now being replaced with neutral,soft colours.So ladies and gentlemen,stop colour blocking!

2) NATURAL SOFT MAKE UP (HOT!!!)

Light make up is the new hot.Especially on the eyes.Go for neutral colours on the eyes and a nude lip colour can work but if you looking to make a statement a bright colour on the lips is definitely acceptable (red/pink/burgundy).

If you want to add some glam to your look you can use a darker colour on the eyes.

BRIGHT EYES (NOT)

Gone are the days where your eye shadow had to match your outfit.Keep the bright eye shadows away! Opt for softer colours.

3) MINT (HOT!!!!)

This colour is very appealing! I always played it safe when it comes to colour but this definitely got my attention in the store.You can almost taste it!

PINK (NOT!!)

The only thing that should be pink is your lipstick,nail polish and underwear!
